Getting to Know Our Peer Educator: Bridgetlee

What do you wish you knew about pregnancy?

Everything! I knew absolutely nothing! And I wanted to learn as much as I could. I took different classes, read tons of books, asked friends and family about all of their experiences etc. Which is what got me interested in educating moms 😊

If you were pregnant and attending PMP meetings, how was this valuable/what was this experience like?

I didn't join PMP until Miyah was born, but Sun River Health used to offer a series of prenatal classes which I did attend. They were great! I first attended the PMP when Miyah was barely a few months old, I was able to connect with other mothers and gained a lot of knowledge for babies/toddlers and gained a wonderful support network.

What did you learn about yourself during your pregnancy?

So much! I learned to appreciate each stage of life as it comes. I learned that some experiences may be hard, but they don't last forever (third trimester, lol)

What helped you relax during pregnancy?

When I was pregnant with my 1st, I enjoyed laying by the pool, shopping, going out to eat and crocheting. With my second, nothing! I had a toddler and was working 3 jobs. I don't even think I sat down during that pregnancy🤪

What was your favorite book to read during pregnancy?

I really liked the Mayo Clinic's Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy.

What shocked you the most about pregnancy?

That literally any weird thing your body might experience is most likely normal.
